Our Story

SmileShack is here to transform dentistry in Raytown, MO. Everything at our office has been created with meticulous attention to detail and the ultimate patient experience in mind. Owner, Founder and KC native, Dr. Ian Ballou has spent the last 10+ years treating thousands of patients and working with some of the biggest leaders in the dental industry to develop innovative concepts and best practices that he’s excited to bring back to KC to offer you and your family. Our state-of-the-art facility provides world class treatment at an affordable price. We stay on the cutting-edge with the latest techniques, materials and technology to ensure that you receive amazing results and an unrivaled patient experience.

Dr. Ballou completed his Bachelor of Arts degree in human biology at the University of Kansas before going on to earn his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of Missouri at Kansas City Dental School. Upon graduating, he completed his orthodontic residency at the University of Missouri at Kansas City. Dr. Ballou decided to continue his education in orthodontics by attending the University of Florida for his orthodontic fellowship.

Dr. Ballou is committed to staying up to date with the latest advancements within the fields of dentistry and orthodontics, and he is an active member of the American Association of Orthodontists and the American Dental Association. He practiced in Dallas, Texas, for several years before deciding to move back to Raytown and open his own dental practice. Dr. Ballou looks forward to working with you and your family!
