Upon completing dental school, Dr. Ballou completed his orthodontic residency at the University of Missouri at Kansas City before attending the University of Florida for his orthodontic fellowship. He is an active member of the American Association of Orthodontists and continually stays on top of advancements in the field of orthodontics.

What do orthodontists do?

Orthodontists specialize in diagnosing, preventing, and treating dental and facial irregularities, such as crooked teeth, overcrowded teeth, overbites, underbites, and gaps between teeth. What are the different types of orthodontic treatments?

Clear aligner therapy is often utilized by patients who want to straighten their teeth discreetly. Clear aligners are easy to remove and clean, and patients don’t have to worry about food restrictions!
Metal braces are a great choice for patients with more extensive orthodontic issues or those who don’t want to have to keep track of removable appliances, as they are adhered to the front of the teeth for the duration of treatment.

Is orthodontic care expensive?

Many insurance providers offer full or partial coverage for orthodontic treatment, so it’s worth checking with your insurance to see what kind of coverage you may receive.
