Are veneers permanent?
Once a tooth has been modified to have a veneer placed over it, a veneer or a similar dental restoration must always cover the tooth to protect it. At SmileShack Dental & Braces, we always work with patients to ensure that they are incredibly happy with the appearance of their veneers and don’t want them removed! During your routine cleanings and exams, we will examine your veneers to ensure that they are in great shape and let you know when we believe they should be replaced.
How long do veneers last?
The lifespan of veneers varies depending on factors such as oral hygiene practices, oral habits (e.g., teeth grinding), and general wear and tear. On average, veneers can last between 10 to 15 years, but with proper care, they can potentially last even longer. To maximize the longevity of veneers, it is important to maintain regular dental visits, practice good oral hygiene, and avoid habits that can damage your veneers, such as biting on hard objects or using teeth as tools.
